The best things in life are definitely not free. Comment.

The best things in life must be the relationship we have with other people, our personal freedom and our good health. It is a pity that we often take these for granted because they are priceless and could so easily slip from our grasp. They may cost us nothing in terms of money but neither do they come gratis. We have to pay a certain price for our relationship, freedom and health.
Relationships with family and friends come at a certain cost. When we have a good relationship with our family and friends, we enjoy happiness. We are confident and have a strong belief in ourselves because we know we belong: we bask in the glow of love and companionship. However, it is very love that causes us pain. When a child is late home from school, apprehension gnaws at us; the death of a loved one brings grief that may not ever completely disappear. Humans are flawed people may disappoint, hurt or betray of us. When someone we love commits those 'crimes', the wound cuts deeper. It is indeed true that we love at a cost.
It is also true that we pay a price for our personal freedom. An example of this is a student who can choose to study or not to study. She will pay the price in terms of the quality of life she leads in the future, the disappointment she causes to her parents and family, and the eventual disillusionment with herself and her life. In addition , the students may have received a scholarship and so she or he may feel that for her or him, education is free. Unfortunately this is not true as scholarship funds come from donations or taxes contributed somewhere down the line by people who can work for money. They deserve a return for that money i.e. a person who can contribute to society. Similarly, we can also choose to become workaholics and thereby accumulate a lot of material wealth. The price in this case may be a lack of time for the family and friend who eventually drift apart from us - a heavy price to pay.
Finally, good health is not free. If we want a healthy body, we have to work, and probably sweat for it, too. Those of us who are health-conscious know that there some food which are good for us and others which, is taken in excess , can harm us. Exercise is also essential to good health. We have to be willing to set aside some time to exercise our bodies in order to enjoy good health. Moderating our eating habits and maintaining a regular exercise routine requires 'payment' in terms of self-discipline and strong will-power. We must be prepared to give up our time and those delicious dishes we enjoy for the sake of our health.
In conclusion, it would be wrong to say that the best things in life are free. Relationships with other people, personal freedom and good health all come at a cost. But the rewards they offer are beyond and price.
